Helping individuals build or renovate their own homes is my passion. Whether you're just starting out, or well underway with construction.
With a focus on providing personalised guidance and support, my goal is to equip you with the inside knowledge and tools, to successfully manage your own self-build or renovation projects. My lived and learnt experience stems from successfully building and project managing my own home, under budget and under schedule, as featured on Grand Designs in 2024.

Our self-build story
Broke ground
March 2023
After almost two years of securing quotes, planning out trades and aligning subcontractors, we broke ground in the Spring of 2023. The plan was to wait for dry weather. The reality was the wettest year in forty years.
Watertight & first fix
June 2023
Even with the wet weather, using timber frame construction enabled us to get the super-structure up in a matter of weeks, ready for brickwork and roofing to commence. And the windows to be measured up. First fix was also underway, with the structure effectively sealed from the elements.
Internals & plastering
October 2023
With the windows in, the underfloor heating and eco tech were installed (ASHP, PV) before being screeded. We also fitted the MVHR system. Boarding and plastering commenced which started to transform the construction site to something resembling more of a home.
Second fix & landscaping
April 2024
With plastering complete, the flooring, kitchen, bathrooms and all second fix elements all went in. We started the mammoth task of limewashing the whole house (the triple vaulted ceiling was a pain!), and in parallel, we cracked on with the landscaping, installing decking, patios, and the reflection pond and tidying up the driveway.
Completion
July 2024
We moved into a very unfinished house (sleeping on the floors), but it gave us the motivation to push to get the interiors finished, along with the landscaping complete. In Summer 2024, we completed the build, with building regs and structural warranty sign off. Filming for Grand Designs was wrapped in July. A total of 16 months from breaking ground.
